Grants In Action
Karcher Middle School Beautification Project
Karcher Middle School moved into the Burlington Area School District’s old high school building in 2000. With no money allocated for outside playground renovations, they developed the Karcher School Beautification Project. This project is on going and involves the Schools staff as well as students.
In 2001, Karcher Middle School received a grant from the Foundation to renovate a courtyard into an outdoor education facility. Students have learned design and gardening skills through hands-on activities.
In 2008 the School was awarded a grant to help with the next faze of the beautification project. This grant provided money for two new soccer goals. The soccer goals have provided children with the opportunity to exercise with friends. On off school times it provides the surrounding community with pass-time fun for dozens of families who live in the Karcher vicinity.
